Danny and his team recently finished work on our extension and have been absolutely superb throughout. The quality of work is outstanding and all the tradespeople in Danny’s team who worked on the project were extremely professional, courteous and took pride in the high quality of work.Danny’s communication was excellent, always keeping us to date and being transparent and honest about timescales, costs and adjustments.When you’re spending significant amounts of money and have builders in your home for several months, trust is everything and Danny made us feel comfortable, confident and reassured throughout. He’s a model professional and I greatly valued being able to benefit from his years’ of experience on everything from door selection to paint choice.But, as the parent of a young family, probably the most important thing is how considerate the team were of us during the work. During a building project, upheaval is practically guaranteed but Danny went out of his way to plan work to minimise the impact on our family life, including doing internal work while we were away and sectioning off areas for safety and to reduce noise and dust. I’m sure it was inconvenient for them at times, but it made a huge difference to us and our children and was greatly appreciated.All of which is to say that I’d heartily recommend DTJ to anyone considering a building project in the Edinburgh area. Well another excellent job delivered on time and on budget by DTJ Joinery & Building! After working with Danny and his team on our extension and kitchen renovation, I wouldn't work with anyone else so I was happy when Danny was able to fit in our bathroom refurb with a tight 3 week turnaround just before Christmas! The great thing about working with Danny and his team is that I'm confident he can take my half-baked ideas and turn them into something magic - well he certainly delivered for our bathroom refurb! Designing as we went - his team of top joiners and plumbers (and painters in the end) delivered something truly special and I managed to get my Christmas day bath in my new roll-top bath! A special mention too for delivering really eye catching wood panelling around the bathroom - a real talking point at our Hogmanay party! We highly recommend Danny and his team. They did an excellent job in removing a load bearing wall to create a large kitchen/dining room which included installing the kitchen, flooring, radiators and all other work required for completion. The renovation work also included installing an inset electric fire in our living room. All work was completed to excellent standard with the end result exceeding our expectations. Danny was always available to answer questions and give advice on improvements to our plans and we were kept informed on the progress of the work which was completed within the expected timescale and budget. His team were very professional and friendly. We could not be happier with the final result.

We asked Danny and his team to undertake a big renovation project that has been carried out over two phases, extending into the garage to create new bedrooms and bathroom, as well as knocking down internal walls to make a bigger kitchen/ living space. Danny’s workmanship is extremely good, as is that of his team. The materials used were as perspecifications, and he was very flexible in the way we ordered various items between us. His advice was invaluable in the way that the building works were progressed and how they were finished. He sets himself and his team very high standards, with his ethos being that his business will be based and judged on the quality of their workmanship. I certainly have no problem in recommending Danny and his team in this respect. Great attention to detail was evident throughout.Value wise, Danny’s Quote was not the cheapest we received, but it was his reputation and the way he communicated with us that swayed us to accept it. His professional attitude and realistic views when he visited the site gave us confidence in his abilities and commitment to the project. We certainly were not disappointed in accepting his quote. No project of this size goes exactly to plan, and there were issues with lead times for materials and and a problem with the doors for the garage conversion, all of which were largely out of Danny’s control, but it was how he dealt with these problems that was impressive; re-arranging the ongoing work to keep to schedule and pushing the suppliers and subcontractors to resolve the issues. There were very few snagging problems at the end of the work as there are in all projects of this size, all of which were promptly dealt with as they were identified.Danny and his team were always courteous and friendly. Great communication and consultation kept the disruption caused by the works to a minimum. I have no hesitation in recommending DJT to anyone who is looking for a quality result, backed by a builder who places quality, professionalism and customer service at the centre of his business.
