Their work has convinced us that DTJ are ‘going places’, with standards that are governed by service quality and customer satisfaction and impressive investment in Equipment, Plant and fleet of Trucks and Vans.They operate very cohesively and clearly have a hard working and happy team. When the owner referred to his employees as ‘family’ we were not at all surprised! They are all friendly and helpful.

Danny worked with us on our home renovation project turning a dining room and kitchen into one large room and insulating and refurbing our utility.It was a big job for us which as the planning grew arms and legs, involved a new kitchen, windows & doors and a new roof on the utility.Choosing a builder is a big decision - you are spending your savings and sharing your house with someone for 3 months, so you want to get it right.Danny was friendly and enthusiastic on first meeting and more importantly seemed to know his stuff so on a gut feeling, we chose him.Overall we are really pleased with the job. The standard of work is excellent - his joiners in particular are meticulous. Our kitchen was by Archispek (who we would also recommend) and when they came to see the finished job, they were very impressed by how well it was fitted.This kind of work throws up decisions that have to be made as you go (our house is old, so joining old to new is a challenge) but Danny really helped with those and offered options based on budget.His tradesmen are polite and respectful and have good chat, if that’s what you want, otherwise they leave you alone. Danny’s communication is excellent - he set up a WhatsApp group which was helpful and is still in touch now, a few months after completing to make sure everything is ok.So overall we would recommend DTJ Joinery - I think Danny is trying to build the reputation of his business one satisfied customer at time. In a world of Facebook building horror stories, here is the polar opposite - a reputable local company who do what’s agreed on time and who employ skilled honest people who are good at their job. The standard of work is excellent and the standard of service goes beyond what you would expect from a building company.

Danny and his team recently finished work on our extension and have been absolutely superb throughout. The quality of work is outstanding and all the tradespeople in Danny’s team who worked on the project were extremely professional, courteous and took pride in the high quality of work.Danny’s communication was excellent, always keeping us to date and being transparent and honest about timescales, costs and adjustments.When you’re spending significant amounts of money and have builders in your home for several months, trust is everything and Danny made us feel comfortable, confident and reassured throughout. He’s a model professional and I greatly valued being able to benefit from his years’ of experience on everything from door selection to paint choice.But, as the parent of a young family, probably the most important thing is how considerate the team were of us during the work. During a building project, upheaval is practically guaranteed but Danny went out of his way to plan work to minimise the impact on our family life, including doing internal work while we were away and sectioning off areas for safety and to reduce noise and dust. I’m sure it was inconvenient for them at times, but it made a huge difference to us and our children and was greatly appreciated.All of which is to say that I’d heartily recommend DTJ to anyone considering a building project in the Edinburgh area. I know for sure that we’ll be using their services again in the future!

Well another excellent job delivered on time and on budget by DTJ Joinery & Building! After working with Danny and his team on our extension and kitchen renovation, I wouldn't work with anyone else so I was happy when Danny was able to fit in our bathroom refurb with a tight 3 week turnaround just before Christmas! The great thing about working with Danny and his team is that I'm confident he can take my half-baked ideas and turn them into something magic - well he certainly delivered for our bathroom refurb! Designing as we went - his team of top joiners and plumbers (and painters in the end) delivered something truly special and I managed to get my Christmas day bath in my new roll-top bath! A special mention too for delivering really eye catching wood panelling around the bathroom - a real talking point at our Hogmanay party! Thanks again to Danny and the team - with Danny at the helm, I can assure you that your home improvement works will be in safe hands, delivered on time, on budget, with minimal stress and a top-quality finish!

We highly recommend Danny and his team. They did an excellent job in removing a load bearing wall to create a large kitchen/dining room which included installing the kitchen, flooring, radiators and all other work required for completion. The renovation work also included installing an inset electric fire in our living room. All work was completed to excellent standard with the end result exceeding our expectations. Danny was always available to answer questions and give advice on improvements to our plans and we were kept informed on the progress of the work which was completed within the expected timescale and budget. His team were very professional and friendly. We could not be happier with the final result.
